About Chamber

Chamber is a magazine of classical music, published four times a year. It began, like most useful things, with a disagreement: a room full of critics arguing about a single chord, long after the concert had ended.

We write about the music we cannot stop thinking about — the rehearsal that changed a performance, the recording that outlived its engineers, the quiet evenings when a string quartet rearranges the furniture of the mind. Our sections reflect the life of the art: Reviews, Interviews, Recordings, and Live.

We are not a newsroom and we are not a shop. We are a slow publication for a fast century: essays, criticism, conversation, and the occasional very strong opinion about interval coffee.

Every issue is edited by hand, proofread by ear, and finished with the belief that music is worth the attention it demands.
